Basketball Recap: De Soto's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Saturday

After a string of four wins, De Soto's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 51-44 to the Blair-Taylor Wildcats. The Pirates were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.

Several Pirates players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylee Venner, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 12 rebounds. Venner is on a roll when it comes to boards, as she's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Sylvia Krueger, who almost dropped a double-double on nine points and nine rebounds.

De Soto's defeat dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Blair-Taylor, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-4.

De Soto didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-42 victory against Brookwood on the 13th. Blair-Taylor has also already played their next game, a 50-34 win against Osseo-Fairchild on the 14th.
