Football Game Preview: Minarets Mustangs vs. Chowchilla Tribe + Official Tickets

Minarets is 0-3 against Chowchilla since October of 2022 but things could change on Friday. The Mustangs will be playing at home against the Tribe at 7:00 p.m. Minarets' defense has only allowed 14.1 points per game this season, so Chowchilla's offense will have their work cut out for them.

Minarets had been on a four-game streak of scoring at least 31 points, but Liberty put an end to it on Friday. The Mustangs lost 35-10 to the Hawks. The defensive woes were uncharacteristic for the Mustangs, who until this matchup were averaging 14.14 points allowed.

Minarets didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. In fact, those interceptions all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Caden Larsen.

Meanwhile, Chowchilla had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.7 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Redcats, sneaking past 34-31.

Minarets better focus on containing Nathan Fuentes and Tristan Beardsley as the pair were huge in Chowchilla's win. Fuentes rushed for 145 yards and one TD while picking up 9.1 yards per carry, while Beardsley rushed for 141 yards and one touchdown on only 14 carries. Beardsley's longest rush was for an incredible 89 yards.

Chowchilla was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 382 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 368 rushing yards in three consecutive games.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Chowchilla's defensive line and their five sacks. Fowler's QB won't forget Charles Arechiga anytime soon given he sacked him three times.

Chowchilla's win bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Minarets, their loss was their first of the season and makes their record 6-1.

Minarets took a serious blow against Chowchilla in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, falling 54-20. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Mustangs were down 40-6.
