Preview: Maxwell Panthers vs. CORE Butte Lynx
Maxwell is 10-0 against the Lynx since January of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Maxwell Panthers will head out on the road to take on the CORE Butte Lynx at 8:00 p.m. Maxwell has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Even though Maxwell has not done well against the Yellowjackets recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. Maxwell sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 54-52 win over the Yellowjackets.
Meanwhile, CORE Butte's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their sixth straight defeat. They were dealt a 52-23 loss at the hands of Los Molinos. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points CORE Butte has scored all season.
Maxwell pushed their record up to 9-12 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for CORE Butte, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-14.
Maxwell strolled past the Lynx in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 50-33. The rematch might be a little tougher for Maxwell since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
