Football Recap: Brainerd Starts Season with Loss at Home + How To Watch

Brainerd unfortunately couldn't capitalize on their home-field advantage in their season opener. They were beaten by the Marion County Warriors 33-3 on Friday. Sadly, the defeat continues a streak the team started last season, making it ten in a row.

Greg Vinson threw for 46 yards while completing 81.8% of his passes. On the ground, Demalakhi Harden rushed for 44 yards.

This one was won in the trenches and the lion's share of the credit has to go to Mason Mays and Ashton Richards. Mays rushed for 45 yards and two TDs while Richards rushed for 42 yards and one score. That's the most rushing yards Richards has posted since back in September of 2024.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Brainerd will take on Howard Tech at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Marion County, they will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on Polk County at 8:00 p.m. on Friday.
