Soccer Game Preview: Battle Creek vs. Richland

The Battle Creek Grizzlies will head out to square off against the Richland Raiders at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Battle Creek will roll into the contest after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any goals on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Loretto on Thursday. The Grizzlies put the hurt on the Mustangs with a sharp 8-1 victory. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 6-1.

Battle Creek hit Loretto with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Santiago Mercado (3), Charles Gray (2), Christian Solis (2), and Noah Wetherby.

Meanwhile, Richland entered their tilt with Culleoka on Thursday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Warriors a 9-0 shutout. Richland's defense has been rock solid lately; the team hasn't given up a goal in their last three games.

Richland's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-4-3. Those home victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 27 goals over those four contests. As for Battle Creek, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.
