Softball Recap: Alonso's Win on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Three

Alonso entered their tilt with Robinson on Tuesday with two consecutive wins , and they'll enter their next game with three. They were the clear victor by a 9-3 margin over the Robinson Knights. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last six times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Karina Lozada spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Leah Hernandez, who scored two runs and stole Three bases. while going 2-for-4. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in stolen bases. Jolie Perillo also deserves some recognition as she hit her first triple of the season.

The win got Alonso back to even at 4-4. As for Robinson, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-5.

Coming up, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when Alonso Ravens take on Leto Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Leto has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13.86 runs per game on average), something Alonso will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Robinson, they will be playing at home against Bartow at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bartow's pitching crew has only allowed 2.6 runs per game this season, so Robinson's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
