Volleyball Recap: LKY Gets the Win

While LKY's win against Kentucky Country Day wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Saints sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Bearcats on Thursday. The Saints have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Bearcats, too.

It was an exciting match in which no team won back-to-back sets, but at the end of the day LKY got the one that really mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-11, 22-25, 25-16, 20-25, 15-10.

Grace Grider had an outrageously good game as she had 14 digs and three aces. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in assists (four). Ava Hood also deserves some recognition as she served her first ace of the season.

They weren't the only good server: LKY was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 20 aces. They are 6-2 when they serve at least ten aces.

LKY now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Kentucky Country Day, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-3.

Looking ahead, LKY will welcome Varsity Opponent at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Kentucky Country Day, they will venture away from home to square off against Ballard Memorial at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bombers will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Bearcats surely won't give up without a fight.
