Volleyball Recap: Buckeye Bucks vs. Normandy Invaders

If Buckeye was riding high fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Valley Forge on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Bucks took a 3-1 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Normandy Invaders on Thursday. The Bucks were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Invaders earlier this season, when they won 3-0.

Buckeye actually scored more points across those four sets (91-88), but sadly they still had to settle for second. The final score came out to 25-19, 12-25, 25-23, 26-24.

Their offense was headlined by Abigail Kirlough and Emma Bostic, who picked up ten kills apiece. They got some help from Aurora Allen and her 17 assists. Nico Anzevino controlled things from the service line, finishing with seven aces.

Among those leading the charge was Maddie Kirk, who had six digs and five aces. Those five aces gave her a new career-high.

Buckeye has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season. As for Normandy, their win bumped their record up to 8-14.

Buckeye does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Normandy, they will take on John Hay in a tournament on Thursday.
