Maple Mountain suffers third straight loss at home

Recap: Maple Mountain Golden Eagles vs. Payson Lions

It was a good run, but the Maple Mountain Golden Eagles unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 44-36 hit to the loss column at the hands of Payson. Maple Mountain has not had much luck with Payson recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the loss, Maple Mountain still got an impressive performance from Jaynee Tanner, who scored 7 points along with 11 rebounds and 4 steals. Tanner hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Kylee Gause, who scored 5 points along with 6 rebounds.

Cheznie Roundy was the offensive standout of the matchup as she scored 17 points along with 8 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Kyah Bahr, who scored 4 points along with 6 rebounds.

Maple Mountain bumped their record down to 4-1 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 69.3 points per game. As for Payson, they now have a winning record of 2-1.

Maple Mountain will head out on the road to face off against Timpanogos at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Utah (Timpanogos is ranked 45th, while Maple Mountain is ranked 29th). As for Payson, they will face off against American Fork at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. American Fork is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
