Basketball Recap: Bourgade Catholic Comes Up Short

Bourgade Catholic lost against Payson back in December of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles took a 58-53 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Payson Longhorns. The Golden Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Payson to victory, but perhaps none more so than Omar Fierro-Nava, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards. That's the most boards Fierro-Nava has posted since back in January of 2024. Payton Stuart was another key player, going 6 of 10 on his way to 15 points.

Bourgade Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 4-13. As for Payson, their win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-9.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bourgade Catholic will welcome Northwest Christian at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Payson, they will take on Alchesay at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
