Basketball Recap: Jeston Barnett's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Venture Academy over Edison

Venture Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a hard 53-34 fall against the Edison Vikings. The match marked the Mustangs' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Venture Academy lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being Jeston Barnett, who posted seven points and five rebounds.

Edison's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Isaiah Coilton led the charge by dropping a double-double on 12 points and 14 boards. With that strong performance, Coilton is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. Alonzo Ward was another key player, going 5 of 10 on his way to 10 points along with five rebounds and three steals.

Venture Academy's loss dropped their record down to 7-4. As for Edison, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-4 record this season.

Venture Academy didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-54 victory against Manteca on the 28th. As for Edison, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 67-51 defeat against Amador Valley on the 28th.
