Monroe is 0-10 against North Hollywood since May of 2019 but things could change on Wednesday. The Vikings will head out on the road to face off against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Monroe has given up an average of 22.2 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Monroe lost 23-1 to Van Nuys on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, in Friday's Canine Competition, North Hollywood came out on top. They put the hurt on Van Nuys with a sharp 21-9 win on Friday. The Huskies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by eight runs or more this season.
Fisher Hinnen made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single hit and allowed only one earned run while striking out ten over 4.2 innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 4-for-5 with one home run, four runs, and four RBI.
In other batting news, Alison Hernandez was incredible, getting on base in all five of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two triples. Those two triples gave her a new career-high. Harper Latsch was another key player, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with one home run, three stolen bases, and three RBI.
North Hollywood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 8-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
North Hollywood is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Monroe, their loss dropped their record down to 3-11.
Monroe suffered a grim 30-4 defeat to North Hollywood in their previous meeting back in April. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
