Baseball Game Preview: Montverde Academy Eagles vs. IMG Academy Gray Ascenders

The Montverde Academy Eagles will take on the IMG Academy Gray Ascenders in a tournament on Thursday. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Wednesday, Montverde Academy was able to grind out a solid win over East Ridge, taking the game 6-3. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Eagles.

Meanwhile, IMG Academy Gray got the win against Eustis on Tuesday by a conclusive 8-2.

Mason Montjoy spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered two runs (both of which were unearned) on four hits and racked up eight Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Yonghoon Lee, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in doubles (two). Petyon Miller also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

IMG Academy Gray hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Eustis struck out eight times.

Montverde Academy's record is now 6-4. As for IMG Academy Gray, their record is now 8-5.

Montverde Academy might still be hurting after the 11-1 loss they got from IMG Academy Gray in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Can Montverde Academy avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
