The Yoakum Bulldogs waltzed into Thursday's contest with three straight wins but they left with four. They walked away with a 51-39 win over Gonzales. That's another feather in the cap for Yoakum, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Among those leading the charge was Destiny Rios, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it two consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Yoakum's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayana Phillips, who scored 11 points along with 3 steals.
Yoakum has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Gonzales, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.
Yoakum is on the road again on Friday and play against Devine. As for Gonzales, they will square off against Blanco at 11:30 a.m. on Friday. Blanco is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak.
