Basketball Recap: Stratford Comes Up Short

Stratford lost against Dalhart back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Stratford Elks received a blow as they fell 50-34 to the Dalhart Wolves. The matchup marked the Elks' lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Despite the loss, Stratford saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kooper Walden posted ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Julio Valdez, who earned nine points.

Even though they lost, Stratford smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in eight consecutive contests.

Stratford now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Dalhart, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 12-3 record this season.

Stratford wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 65-46 win against Follett on the 28th. As for Dalhart, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 40-24 victory against Pampa on the 28th.
