Football Game Preview: Montebello Oilers vs. Alhambra Moors + How To Watch

The Montebello Oilers will square off against the Alhambra Moors at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Montebello will be strutting in after a win while Alhambra will be coming in after a loss.

Montebello headed into their last game having not scored more than 13 points for three straight, but Mark Keppel let them put that streak behind them. The Oilers breezed past the Aztecs to the tune of 52-12 on Friday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-6.

Donovan Murillo went supernova, rushing for 93 yards and a pair of touchdowns on only nine carries, while also picking up 40 receiving yards. Those 93 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Sebastian Rodriguez also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.

Special teams also played a big role in the game for Montebello, adding 16 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Rodriguez, who ran a punt back for a touchdown.

On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Montebello's defense and their four sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as four different players picked up one apiece.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 40 points the game before, Alhambra was a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They took a 14-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of Bell Gardens. The Moors have struggled against the Lancers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.

Alhambra's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Montebello, the victory snapped their losing streak at three games and leaves them with a 2-4 record.

Montebello beat Alhambra 24-14 in their previous matchup back in October of 2024. Will the Oilers repeat their success, or do the Moors have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
