Softball Recap: MMI Preparatory School vs. Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans

MMI Preparatory School extended their losing streak to 11 on Monday, dropping their season record down to 0-11 in the process. They came up short against the Greater Nanticoke Area Trojans, falling 13-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Greater Nanticoke Area this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-0 back in April.

As for Greater Nanticoke Area, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 2-14. The high-scoring effort was just what they needed considering they were shut out in their previous contest.

For Greater Nanticoke Area's part, they got a great performance from Kacey Spencer as she struck out ten batters over five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those ten strikeouts gave Spencer a new career-high.

At the plate, Juliana Percival and Sophia Cromer did most of the damage at the plate: Percival went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs, while Cromer went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. Those three RBI gave Percival a new career-high. Natalyn Emel also deserves some recognition as she snagged her first stolen base of the season.

Looking ahead, MMI Preparatory School is taking a road trip to challenge Hanover Area at 5:45 p.m. on Monday. As for Greater Nanticoke Area, they will take on Wyoming Area at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The Trojans' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Warriors have averaged an impressive 7.1 runs per game this season.
