Basketball Recap: Swampscott Proves Higher State Rank Is No Mistake

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Beverly, Swampscott was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They strolled past the Saugus Sachems with points to spare, taking the game 69-51. Given the Big Blue's advantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while the Sachems are ranked 225th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Swampscott's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Saugus, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-8 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Swampscott will venture away from home to square off against Salem at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Saugus, they will face off against Minuteman Regional at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
