Softball Game Preview: Selah Vikings vs. Zillah Leopards

The Selah Vikings will head out to take on the Zillah Leopards at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Selah has five straight wins, Zillah has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Selah's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They didn't even let Quincy on the board, marking the Vikings' second-straight 15-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Vikings, who have now won 13 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Avery Brewer made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.

In other batting news, Laci Ross was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted over her last 12 contests. Aspin Grubenhoff was another key player, going 1-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

Selah always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .696. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their OBP total in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Zillah didn't have quite enough to beat Warden on Tuesday and fell 9-8.

Selah pushed their record up to 15-2 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Zillah, their loss dropped their record down to 4-13.
