Volleyball Recap: Bear Creek Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Douglas County

On Saturday, Bear Creek faced Douglas County in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Bear Creek Bears fell just short of the Douglas County Huskies by a score of 2-1. If the Bears were looking for revenge after losing 2-0 to the Huskies when the teams met back in April of 2024, then they'll just have to keep looking.

Devlin Kaupa paced Bear Creek's offense, picking up 12 kills. Kaupa got some help from Dylan Imus and his 22 assists. Kaupa was also solid from the service line: he led the team with four aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Bear Creek and nudges their season record down to 6-5. As for Douglas County, their victory bumped their record up to 5-1.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Bear Creek and Legend will dust off their jerseys to face off against one another at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. This will be Bear Creek's first chance to prove their worth in the conference. Douglas County will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on ThunderRidge at 6:00 p.m. on March 25th. The game will also give ThunderRidge their first taste of in-conferenceaction this season.
