Baseball Recap: Denver East Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Denver East proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by nine) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the George Washington Patriots 8-6. The victory was nothing new for the Angels as they're now sitting on three straight.

Denver East got a great performance from Kaeden Zirlin as he struck out seven batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Zirlin has posted since back in March.

At the plate, Denver East saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Henry O'Rear, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, one stolen base, and one run. O'Rear is becoming a predictor of the Angels' success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 5-11 when he doesn't). Another was Mason Manley, who went 1-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Denver East's record is now 10-11. As for George Washington, they now have a losing record of 8-9.
