Softball Game Preview: The First Academy Royals vs. Lyman Greyhounds

The First Academy Royals will head out to face off against the Lyman Greyhounds at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

The First Academy is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Geneva just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Thursday. They took a 10-5 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Knights.

Abby Bonnett made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.

Meanwhile, Lyman was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their sixth straight defeat. They lost 7-1 to Master's Academy.

Lyman saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Makayla Darwent, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base.

Lyman's loss dropped their record down to 4-14. As for The First Academy, they now have a losing record of 7-8.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. The First Academy has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.9 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Lyman struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.3 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

The First Academy skirted past Lyman 10-9 when the teams last played last Monday. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Royals since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
