Soccer Game Preview: Damien vs. Upland

The Damien Spartans will square off against the Upland Highlanders/Scots at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither team made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

Damien is likely headed into the game with a focus on the second half, which is when things went downhill against Etiwanda on Friday. Damien came up short against Etiwanda, falling 3-0. The Spartans have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.

Despite a strong season so far, Upland has seen their luck take a bit of a downturn recently. They fell 3-1 to Rancho Cucamonga on Friday. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Highlanders/Scots came into the contest with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 41st, while the Cougars are ranked 131st).

Upland's goal came courtesy of Kenert Munoz, which was the first he's scored this season.

Upland's loss dropped their record down to 9-3-1. As for Damien, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10-2.
