Tabb hasn't had much luck against New Kent recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Tigers will square off against the Trojans at 4:30 p.m. Tabb is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.5 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Tabb was able to grind out a solid victory over Jamestown, taking the game 4-1.
Jada Olexa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Lakelyn Bagheri, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Milenah Camacho, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, New Kent came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Falcons.
Abbie Kegley made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.
In other batting news, Hannah Tober was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. Kenley Rowe was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs.
New Kent pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Tabb, the victory got them back to even at 6-6.
Tabb suffered a grim 18-7 defeat to New Kent in their previous meeting back in March. Can the Tigers avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
