Softball Recap: Yuba City Honkers vs. Placer Hillmen

If Yuba City was feeling good fresh off their 24-2 takedown of Nevada Union on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Honkers fell just short of the Placer Hillmen by a score of 4-3 on Tuesday. The Honkers were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Hillmen earlier this season, when they won 10-0.

Maddison Stead was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits. Stead was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Stead wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Chloe Gonzales, who went 3-for-4 with one double.

Yuba City's defeat dropped their record down to 17-8-1. As for Placer, their record is now 16-6.

Coming up, Yuba City will venture away from home to challenge East Nicolaus at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Honkers 3.2, the Spartans 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Placer does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
