Basketball Game Preview: Sparta Bulldogs vs. Freeburg Midgets

The Sparta Bulldogs will take on the Freeburg Midgets at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Sparta will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.

Sparta picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They came out on top against Chester by a score of 45-35.

Sparta's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jake Wesbecher, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Wesbecher has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was DJ Hayes, who posted 11 points and three steals.

Meanwhile, Freeburg lost to Meridian on the road by a 61-46 margin on Saturday.

Sparta has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 12-4 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.0 points per game. As for Freeburg, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.

Sparta couldn't quite finish off Freeburg in their previous meeting back in January of 2022 and fell 55-52. Can Sparta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
