            Softball Recap: Highland Hornets vs. St. Pius X Sartans        
        
		
        
        
            Highland had lost 13 straight at home, but  on Thursday they dropped their record down to 2-23 to make it 14. They came up short against  the St. Pius X Sartans, falling  23-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Sartans this season, as they also lost their prior matchup  18-0  back in April.
As for St. Pius X, they have  been performing  incredibly well recently as they've  won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 12-13 record  this season. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most  runs they've scored all season.
For St. Pius X's part,  Dominique Morett and  Lilee Zarate made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound,  Morett   tossed one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. Meanwhile,  Zarate   pitched one inning while giving up   no  earned runs or  hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't  given up  more than one  walk in five consecutive appearances. At bat,  Morett  got on base  in all three of her plate appearances with two  RBI, one  run,  and one  double, while  Zarate  got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with three  runs and one  stolen base.
 In other batting news,  Grace Grady was a standout: she got on base  in three of her four plate appearances with three  stolen bases, four  runs,  and two  RBI. That's the most  RBI  she has posted since back in March.  Sophia Trujillo also deserves some recognition as  she  hit her first  triple of the season.
As of now, neither Highland nor St. Pius X have any future games scheduled.
