Basketball Recap: Rock Church Lions vs. Suffolk Christian Academy Knights
The Rock Church Lions had already won nine in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 24.4 points), and they went ahead and made it ten on Tuesday. They took down Suffolk Christian Academy 55-36. That's another feather in the cap for Rock Church, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Miles Dawkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 18 points along with seven assists and three steals. He hasn't dropped below 18 points for eight straight games. Jaedon Small was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with five rebounds and two blocks.
Suffolk Christian Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of De'Sean Stevenson, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists, and Luke Ott who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Rock Church's victory was their tenth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 15-3. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 71.4 points per game. As for Suffolk Christian Academy, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 11 of their last 13 games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.
Rock Church and the Bobcats will face off at 6:00 p.m. on February 1st without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. New Life Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.5 points per game this season. As for Suffolk Christian Academy, they will be playing at home against the Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
