Baseball Recap: Nixon-Smiley Takes a Loss

Nixon-Smiley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 3-1 heartbreaker at the hands of the Luling Eagles. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Mustangs have suffered since February 21st.

Nixon-Smiley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Julian Amaya, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

Nixon-Smiley's record is now 2-12. As for Luling, their victory ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-15.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Nixon-Smiley will take on rival Karnes City at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Luling is set to square off against their familiar foe Poth at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.
