Softball Recap: Marshall Comes Up Short

The Marshall Rams lost 17-4 to the Sotomayor WILDCATS on Tuesday. The Rams have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Kaitlyn Bermea and Haley Herrera did some serious damage despite the final result: Bermea scored a run and stole two bases while going 2-for-3, while Herrera scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-2. Herrera is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now stole at least one in each of the last ten games she's played dating back to last season.

Even though they lost, Marshall hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts in three consecutive contests.

Marshall's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Sotomayor, their win was their first in the district, bumping their district record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-4.

Coming up, Marshall will venture away from home to square off against Harlan at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Harlan's pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so Marshall's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Sotomayor, they will challenge Holmes at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
