Softball Game Preview: Satsuma Gators vs. Baldwin County Tigers

The Satsuma Gators will face off against the Baldwin County Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matches after big wins in their previous games.

Satsuma is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Mary G. Montgomery a 13-0 shutout on Tuesday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Gators with their most commanding win of the season.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Baldwin County, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Elberta on Tuesday as Baldwin County made off with a 7-0 win.

Nassar Brooks made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 13 over seven innings pitched. Those 13 strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, Madisyn Williams was excellent, scoring a run and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances. She also brought in an RBI, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brooke McGowin, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI.

Baldwin County is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The victory got Satsuma back to even at 3-3.

Satsuma skirted past Baldwin County 3-2 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. Will Satsuma repeat their success, or does Baldwin County have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
