Soccer Recap: Tough Loss for Boyd County

If Boyd County was riding high off their 6-2 takedown of Lawrence County on Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Lions came up short against the Russell Red Devils on Wednesday, falling 3-0. While losing is never fun, Boyd County can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Kentucky soccer rankings (they are ranked 68th, while Russell are ranked fifth).

Boyd County has also now lost four of their last five games at home. That's dealt a heavy blow to their 3-3 record this season. As for Russell, they pushed their record up to 5-0 with the win, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Coming up, Boyd County will welcome Greenup County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Russell, they will venture away from home to square off against Tates Creek at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.
