Basketball Game Preview: Kouts Mustangs & Fillies vs. Wheeler Bearcats

The Kouts Mustangs & Fillies will face off against the Wheeler Bearcats at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.

Kouts is probably headed into the game with a chip on their shoulder considering Rochester just ended the team's five-game winning streak on Friday. They came up short against the Zebras, falling 49-29. The matchup marked the Mustangs & Fillies 's lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Kouts' defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Bella Birky, who posted 12 points, and Ellie Nemeth, who scored six points along with eight boards and three steals.

Even though they lost, Kouts smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Wheeler was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They came up short against Westville, falling 64-43. While losing is never fun, the Bearcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while the Blackhawks are ranked 53rd).

Wheeler's defeat dropped their record down to 3-11. As for Kouts, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-7.
