Baseball Game Preview: Granville Blue Aces vs. Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets

The Granville Blue Aces will square off against the Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Granville sitting on nine straight wins and Mt. Vernon on three.

On Wednesday, Granville got the win against Newark Catholic by a conclusive 9-1. The result was nothing new for the Blue Aces, who have now won ten games by eight runs or more so far this season.

Meanwhile, Mt. Vernon was not the first on the board on Wednesday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Lakewood by a score of 5-2.

Mt. Vernon got a great performance from Jagger Dohn as he tossed six innings while giving up just two earned runs off eight hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Kayden Packard, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ezra Kurek, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Granville's victory was their sixth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Mt. Vernon, their victory bumped their record up to 10-6.
