Baseball Recap: East Gaston's Winning Streak Snapped at Four Games

It was a good run, but East Gaston unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 8-5 to the Cherryville Ironmen. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Warriors of the 3-0 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in May of 2024.

Cameron Barnette made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs, one triple, and one double. East Gaston is 4-1 when Barnette posts two or more runs, but 2-3 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Howell, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two RBI.

East Gaston's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 6-4. As for Cherryville, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

While East Gaston had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
