Softball Recap: Clinton-Massie Triumphs

Clinton-Massie took a seven-run loss the last time they faced off against Fairfield, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Falcons came out on top in a nail-biter against the Lions on Friday, sneaking past 14-13. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Falcons have posted since May 1, 2024.

Ava Crombie was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5. She also hit a double, marking her first of the season.

In other batting news, Clinton-Massie got a massive performance out of Kalli Jodrey, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Jodrey also put up a double, which was her first of the season. Karley Goodin was another key player, going 2-for-5 with one home run and two RBI.

Clinton-Massie is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Fairfield, with the defeat, they broke their seven-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Clinton-Massie will head out to challenge Goshen at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Fairfield, they will venture away from home to take on Fayetteville-Perry at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
