Baseball Recap: Veterans Memorial Snaps Four-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

Veterans Memorial had lost four games on the road, but after bumping their record up to 12-14 on Tuesday that streak is in the rearview. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the San Benito Greyhounds 6-5. This was a revenge game for the Chargers: when they faced off against the Greyhounds on April 4th, they had to take a 1-0 defeat.

Veterans Memorial let Max Gonzalez and Anthony Rocha run wild. Gonzalez went 2-for-3 with one run and one RBI, while Rocha went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Sebastian Vela, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one RBI.

As for San Benito, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-13 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On San Benito's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Omar Bravo, who went 2-for-3 with one double and one RBI.

Veterans Memorial does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for San Benito, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Harlingen at 6:30 p.m.
