Basketball Recap: Waldron Mohawks vs. Sheridan Blackhawks
Waldron's last matchup with Sheridan could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game on Friday. The Waldron Mohawks lost 67-45 to the Sheridan Blackhawks. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Mohawks of the 59-56 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in February of 2024.
Waldron's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ethan Moody, who posted ten points and six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Parker Douglas, who earned ten points.
Sheridan found their leader in sophomore Trey Page, who went 7-for-12 from beyond the arc to rack up 30 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Page has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Caleb Wright, who shot 50% from the field en route to 17 points and seven assists.
Waldron dropped their record down to 11-11 with the loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Sheridan, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season.
Waldron will challenge Southwestern at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Waldron will be up against Southwestern's rather soft defense (which has allowed 56.95 points per contest), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. Sheridan does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
