Volleyball Game Preview: Desert Edge Scorpions vs. Campo Verde Coyotes

The Desert Edge Scorpions will head out on the road to square off against the Campo Verde Coyotes at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Considering both teams were shutout in their prior games, the pair is probably coming into this one with something to prove.

Desert Edge lost 3-0 to Canyon View on Wednesday. The defeat continues a trend for the Scorpions in their meetings with the Jaguars: they've now lost eight in a row.

Desert Edge took the loss but they managed to make steady progress, increasing their score in every set they played. The final score came out to 25-13, 25-16, 25-17.

Meanwhile, in Thursday's Canine Competition, Campo Verde had to take the L. They came up short against Desert Mountain on Thursday, falling 3-0.

The loss didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Desert Mountain scored at least 18 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-22, 25-18, 25-23.

Despite the defeat, Campo Verde saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kendal Kellar had 11 digs and one assist. Kellar is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 11 or more in each of the last four games she's played.

Desert Edge's loss dropped their record down to 13-13. As for Campo Verde, their defeat dropped their record down to 16-19.

Desert Edge might still be hurting after the 3-0 loss they got from Campo Verde when the teams last played back in September of 2017. Can the Scorpions avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
