Basketball Game Preview: Chatham Central Bears vs. South Davidson Wildcats

Chatham Central is 8-2 against South Davidson since December of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. Having just played yesterday, the Chatham Central Bears will head out on the road to face off against the South Davidson Wildcats at 6:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Chatham Central has three straight wins, South Davidson has seven straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the court.

On Tuesday, Chatham Central humbled Cummings with a 50-21 victory. The Bears have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven contests by 26 points or more this season.

Karaleigh Dodson was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds. She has been hot recently, having posted nine or more boards the last four times she's played. Chloe Scott was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Chatham Central smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Meanwhile, South Davidson came up short against Asheboro Hybrid Academy on Monday and fell 47-35.

Chatham Central's victory ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-6. As for South Davidson, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Everything went Chatham Central's way against South Davidson in their previous matchup back in November of 2024, as Chatham Central made off with a 47-21 win. In that match, Chatham Central amassed a halftime lead of 31-11, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Wednesday.
