Basketball Game Preview: Dowagiac Chieftains vs. Three Rivers Wildcats

Dowagiac hasn't had much luck against Three Rivers recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Dowagiac Chieftains will head out on the road to take on the Three Rivers Wildcats at 7:00 p.m.

Dowagiac is headed into the contest out to prove that what happened against Brandywine on Thursday (when they were outscored in every quarter) was just a minor bump in the road. Dowagiac took a blow against Brandywine, falling 61-18. The game marked the Chieftains' lowest-scoring match so far this season.

Meanwhile, Three Rivers hadn't done well against Edwardsburg recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. Three Rivers managed a 55-49 win over Edwardsburg. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Wildcats' disadvantage in MaxPreps' Michigan basketball rankings (they are ranked 353rd, while the Eddies are ranked 53rd).

Three Rivers' win ended a four-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 5-8. As for Dowagiac, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 4-9.

Dowagiac beat Three Rivers 40-28 when the teams last played back in February of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Dowagiac since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
