Softball Recap: Tuesday's Win Is Italy's Tenth in Last 12 Outings

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Rio Vista, Italy was happy to have turned things around on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 22-12 margin over the Frost Polar Bears. The Gladiators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 13 contests by eight runs or more this season.

Kacey Stewart was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off two hits. Stewart was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.

In other batting news, Charlea Padilla was a standout: she scored three runs and stole five bases while getting on base in four of her six plate appearances. Addy Slovak was another key player, scoring four runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-5.

Italy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .653. They are a perfect 14-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Italy has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 14.9 runs. As for Frost, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-13.

Italy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Frost, they will be playing at home against Meridian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Yellowjackets have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 18.7 runs per game on average), something the Polar Bears will no doubt try to take advantage of.
