Recap: Fall River vs. Portola
Fall River won the last time they faced Portola, and things went their way on Friday, too. Fall River walked away with a 40-26 victory. The win was familiar territory for them, who now have five in a row.
The Bulldogs' offense came in ready to rumble, picking up 26 points in the first half. Portola countered with 7 points, leaving the score at 26-7 going into the half. Although the Bulldogs wound up losing the second-half battle, they still had enough in reserve to win the war.
The Bulldogs found their leader in underclassman sophomore Kenneth Westlund, who rushed for 171 yards and one TD on 18 carries. One of the most memorable plays of the game was Westlund's 75-yard touchdown rush in the first quarter. sophomore Ryan Osborne also deserves a shout-out for his three TDs.
The Bulldogs will go up against Los Molinos in continuing playoff action on Wednesday. The stakes are high as these teams both are all in, each fighting to extend its postseason success. Portola's playoff loss brings an end to their season.
