Volleyball Recap: Mendota Snaps 15-Game Streak of Losses on the Road + How To Watch

Mendota lost to Sandwich back in October of 2024, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Thursday. The Trojans came out on top against the Indians by a score of 2-0. That two set margin sets a new team best for the Trojans this season.

Not only was the match a shutout, it was a big one: Mendota took both sets by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 25-12.

Their offense was headlined by Mariyah Elam and LayLie DenauLt, who picked up six kills apiece. They got some help from Eva Beetz and her ten assists. Finally, Elam was also a dominant defender, finishing with a team-high four blocks.

Mendota's victory ended a 15-match drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 6-27-1. As for Sandwich, they have been struggling recently as they've lost 13 of their last 15 matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-24 record this season.

Mendota will square off against Newman Central Catholic at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The last three games the Comets have played have been within one set, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. Sandwich does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
