Softball Recap: Coronado Thunderbirds vs. Franklin Cougars

Coronado was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They lost 23-9 to the Franklin Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-5 back in March.

Simone Coppinger was cooking despite her team's loss, firing off two home runs, five RBI, and three runs while going 2-for-2. Another player making a difference was Farrah Macias, who scored three runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Coronado's defeat dropped their record down to 9-20. As for Franklin, their victory ended a nine-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 8-16-1.

Coronado didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 20-2 loss against Pebble Hills on the 5th. As for Franklin, they have also already played their next game, a 15-4 defeat against Montwood on the 5th.
