Mattoon is a perfect 10-0 against Rantoul since August of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Greenwave will head out to take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

On Tuesday, Mattoon came up short against Taylorville and fell 2-0. The Greenwave have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back matches.

Mattoon was the model of consistency in the loss, scoring 11 points in every single set they played. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-11.

Meanwhile, Rantoul also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to St. Joseph-Ogden by a score of 2-0.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: St. Joseph-Ogden scored at least 20 points in every set. The match finished with set scores of 25-20, 25-21.

Mattoon's loss dropped their record down to 15-17. As for Rantoul, they now have a losing record of 14-15.

Mattoon beat Rantoul 2-0 when the teams last played back in October of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Greenwave since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
