Recap: Burrillville Broncos vs. Cumberland Clippers

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Burrillville Broncos can now relate to. They suffered a rough 41-19 defeat at the hands of Cumberland on Friday. Burrillville has not had much luck with Cumberland recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.

Despite the loss, Burrillville still got an impressive performance from Leland Kelleher, who rushed for 98 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 carries.

Cumberland's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Andrew Ray, who rushed for 247 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. Another player making a difference was Evan Spencer, who rushed for 98 yards and three touchdowns.

Burrillville's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Cumberland, the victory for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-1.

Burrillville will have plenty of time to ponder what went wrong as they've got a bye scheduled next week. After, they'll take on Ponaganset at 10:00 a.m. on November 23rd. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Rhode Island (Ponaganset is ranked 20th, while Burrillville is ranked seventh). As for Cumberland, they will take on Barrington at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Barrington is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
