Softball Recap: Central Cabarrus Vikings vs. West Rowan Falcons        
        
		
            
 Central Cabarrus was not the first on the board  on Tuesday, but they got there more often. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  a  5-4  victory over the West Rowan Falcons. The  win made it back-to-back  victories for Central Cabarrus.
  Taryn Jenkins spent all nine innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered  just two earned  (and two unearned) runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. Those 14  strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.
 On the hitting side,  the team  relied heavily on  Peyton Smith, who  went 2-for-5 with a  home run and four  RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of  Rachel Pressley, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 On West Rowan's side,  Emma Clarke and  EA Nance stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Clarke  scored a  run and  stole a base while  getting on base  in four of her five plate appearances, while  Nance  went 1-for-4 with a  home run and two  RBI.
 Central Cabarrus pushed their record up to 12-3 with that  win, which was their seventh straight  at home. Those good results were due in large part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as  they  averaged 10.6 runs per game. As for West Rowan, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-6.
 Both  squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Central Cabarrus will take on East Rowan at 5:30  p.m.  on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few  runs on average, (Central Cabarrus: 4, East Rowan: 1.5) so any  runs scored will be well earned. As for West Rowan, they will look to defend their home field  on Friday against Concord at 5:30  p.m.
