Softball Recap: Millbrook Takes a Loss

Millbrook had lost four straight on the road, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 5-5 to make it five. They fell just short of the Kettle Run Cougars by a score of 3-2. The Pioneers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Cougars apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

As for Kettle Run, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games.

For Kettle Run's part, Aaliyah Alexander spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on six hits and racked up six Ks.

At the plate, Kettle Run's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Leah Trible, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Looking ahead, Millbrook will venture away from home to face off against Liberty at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Kettle Run, they will challenge James Wood at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Colonels' pitching crew has only allowed 2.9 runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
