Baseball Recap: Shepherd's Losing Streak Snapped at Three Games

Shepherd had lost three games straight , but after bumping their record up to 12-5-1 on Monday that streak is in the rearview. They walked away with a 6-2 win over the Meridian Mustangs. That's more bragging rights for the Bluejays, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sam King was incredible, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run and four RBI. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.

Shepherd hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Meridian struck out eight times.

As for Meridian, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost six of their last eight matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-10 record this season. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

On Meridian's side, Brady Bowen was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Shepherd will challenge Gladwin at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Flying G's pitching crew has only allowed 3.4 runs per game this season, so the Bluejays' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Meridian, they will host St. Louis at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sharks have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 11.73 runs per game on average), something the Mustangs will no doubt try to take advantage of.
